Three level Mountain House designed for a single family on a larger wooden elevated rural estate scattered with glacial rock ridges, in upstate New York.
The dynamism of the form and cantilever “tail” of the house, is derived from the slopes of the site and glacial evidence in exposed stone ridges and scattered site carvings.
All aspects of design, such as viewpoints, circulation, space, honest and healthy materials are gracefully configured to inspire and simplify the life within.
The house is designed with passive strategies, such as narrow long shape and siting for solar-sailing, thermal retention mass concrete slabs, super-insulated envelope, IAQ strategies, PV solar array to mention a few.
